FAQ

Questions and answers

The questions people ask about Lawn Calc.

Getting started

Is Lawn Calc free?

Yes. Every feature is free. Ads pay for the app, and one purchase removes them. There is no subscription.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account and no sign-up. Your lawn stays on your phone.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. Lawn Calc is an Android app.

Square feet or square meters?

Both: square feet, acres and pounds per 1,000 sq ft, or square meters and grams per m². Choose in Units and formats.

Measuring

How does it measure my lawn?

You trace each zone on the satellite photo and draw the house, driveway and beds as holes. You can also type an area or walk the edge by GPS. See Measure lawn square footage.

How precise is it?

As precise as the photo under the drawing: right for buying bags, not a property survey.

The schedule

Which grass types does it know?

Cool-season grass (fescue, ryegrass, bluegrass) and warm-season grass (bermuda, zoysia, St. Augustine), each with its typical program. See Cool or warm-season grass.

Can I change the dates and products?

Yes, all of them, and add your own steps. The typical program is only a start.

Does it work in the southern hemisphere?

Yes. The dates shift by six months, and the garden year runs from July to June.

Does it tell me which product to buy?

No. You enter the product, the rate and the spreader setting from your bag. The preset rates are common label rates, not recommendations.

Bags and watering

How does it count the bags?

From the rate and bag size you enter. Each zone gets its pounds, and the bags are counted on the whole lawn. See How much fertilizer.

How does it work out watering?

From your sprinkler's rate or flow, the water you want each week and how many times you water. See How long to water.

Privacy

Does it upload my lawn or my position?

No. They stay on your phone. The network carries map tiles, address search and ads. See Privacy.

How do I get in touch?
